C'mon Marianne

(For Jersey girl Holly Ann Butler, who said in a recent podcast interview from Dallas as featured on the fantastic Jersey Boys Blog that this was her favorite JB song. She said it makes her happy. Isn't that sweet? I hope what I did to it doesn't change that.)

Whoa-ho-ho here I am
Stuck with Gilligan
On a desert isle
It's gonna be a while
Let's stroll hand in hand
Let's roll in the sand
C'mon Marianne

No matter what people say
I'll take you anyday
Over that Ginger chick
You're my permanent pick
Your short denim shorts
Created by Sherwood Schwartz
C'mon Marianne (baby)
C'mon Holly Ann (baby)
C'mon Marianne (baby)
Say we'll roll in the sand
My Marianne, Marianne, Marianne, Marianne

The Professor and Skipper too
They all thirst for you
Thurston Howell the Third
Barely says a word
But I know down deep
They all want to sleep
With my Marianne (baby)
C'mon Marianne (baby)
C'mon Marianne (baby)
Say we'll roll in the sand
My Marianne, Marianne, Marianne, Marianne

Stubbleyou...I just read in People Magazine that Gilligan's Marianne is 69 years old! How is that possible?

(She swore that the marijuana in her car was from a hitchhiker she had just dropped off...such a reply shows a quick wisdom that only comes from age, I guess. Although the wisdom of the mysterious hitchhiker is a whole other story.)

I wonder if the term "Ginger" as used on "South Park" was so named for Ginger on Gilligan's Island. I never heard that name before as a quasi slur. We had a Monochrome TV longer than almost anyone, and having seen Ron Howard mainly on The Andy Griffith Show, I was stunned at how "Ginger" he was on "The Music Man" when it was on a movie channel recently.

Anyway, Gilligan's Marianne should try to kick the weed...

"Dawn" (Wells) was probably about her too. Bob Gaudio must have really dug her denim short shorts to write two Four Seasons songs about her.

Kisses from a real live Jersey girl! OMG my work is done. Ha ha ha. Glad you enjoyed the 'song' and thanks for letting me know. My main worry was that you and the other 'youngshters' (read it in your best Ed Sullivan) you work with might find a "Gilligan's Island" reference to be before your time.

I dont think the Jersey girls get enough credit - or attention. I've got an idea for another song parody about the JG's that's also a seventies TV reference. Sssh, don't tell anyone...but think Farrah Fawcett. Get it? So check back. Check back. Check back to where you found this song. Check back, Lorraine! (Dumb Beatles reference. Forgive me.)

Your comment about "C'mon Marianne" making you happy really was very sweet. Hope you had a chance to look around the rest of my blog too.

Continued success,

S
